Mr. Nadungu GagareNigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to hosting the Africa Climate Change Summit, scheduled for July 8–11, 2025, in Abuja. The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring the summit’s success, recognizing the significant impact of climate change on various sectors, including human health, agriculture, and biodiversity. The event aims to foster international collaboration and attract investments in climate action and renewable energy.

At a Solar Power CSR Dinner held on May 27, 2025, in Abuja, Mr. Nadungu Gagare, Permanent Secretary for Political and Economic Affairs at the OSGF, reiterated the government’s commitment to the summit. He highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in addressing climate challenges and welcomed both local and foreign investments in the sector.

The summit’s postponement to July 2025 was to allow adequate time for planning and execution, ensuring meaningful participation and outcomes. Stakeholders from various states, including Osun, Kwara, and Niger, are actively involved in the preparations, aiming to promote good governance and attract investors to Nigeria and Africa at large.

The Africa Climate Change Summit is poised to be a pivotal event in advancing climate action on the continent, with Nigeria playing a leading role in facilitating dialogue and collaboration among nations.
